In March 2012, I was able to go on my first Round-the-World (RTW) after spending months earning airline miles and hotel points. Most of the miles and points were earned through credit card sign-up bonuses and spend. Since there were a lot of great credit card sign-up bonuses last year, I was fortunate to earn enough miles to fly this RTW in First Class.

The itinerary for this trip is:
1. New York (JFK) to Hong Kong (HKG) on Cathay Pacific First Class
2. Hong Kong (HKG) to Bangkok (BKK) on Cathay Pacific First Class
3. VIE Bangkok Hotel
4. Bangkok (BKK) to Tokyo-Narita (NRT) on Thai Air First Class
5. Hilton Narita Airport Hotel
6. Tokyo-Narita (NRT) to Frankfurt (FRA) on Lufthansa First Class
7. Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel
8. Frankfurt (FRA) to Newark (EWR) via Munich (MUC) on Lufthansa First Class and Business Class

Bangkok was the destination for this trip because I wanted to visit the city for quite a long time and everything is affordable. I chose to stay at the VIE Bangkok Hotel during my two-night stay in Bangkok because they were having a sale and I have Accor Platinum status.
